Felix Auger-Aliassime defends the ABN AMRO Open title

The winner of the 2022 ABN AMRO Open, Felix Auger-Aliassime, will return in 2023 to defend his title. The Canadian, currently ranked number eight in the world, won his first ATP tournament in Rotterdam. Meanwhile, after wins in Florence, Antwerp and Basel, he already has three tournament victories to his name. The ABN AMRO Open will be held in Rotterdam Ahoy from February 11 to 19, 2023.

Later he fulfilled that promise with great performances. The fact that he is now in the top-10 of the world is no surprise."
 

Top talent Auger-Aliassime

The current world number eight had his definitive breakthrough in 2019, when he managed to reach the top-100. In no time, he headed toward the world's best 20 players. He became the youngest top-25 player since Lleyton Hewitt. His rise stalled temporarily, but with a semifinal place at the 2021 US Open, he took another step toward the top. In 2022, he takes another step up, with wins in Rotterdam, Florence, Antwerp and Basel.
 

Auger-Aliassime in Rotterdam

Felix Auger-Aliassime made four previous appearances in Rotterdam. On his debut as a 17-year-old talent in 2018, he had to bow out in the first round after three sets against Krajinovic. During his return in 2020, he reached the final, in which Gaël Monfils proved too strong. Last edition, he also managed to reach the final. After beating Gerasimov, Murray, Norrie and Rublev, he faced Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final. After eight lost finals, Auger-Aliassime won 6-4, 6-2 and was able to call himself a tournament winner for the first time in his career.

It earned him congratulations from Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, among others.

The 50th ABN AMRO Open will be held from February 11 to 19, 2023. Besides top tennis, the tournament offers many things 'On Top of Tennis’.
