06 March 2021

Andrey Rublev is on an impressive streak at the ATP 500 tournaments. The fourth-seeded Russian recorded his eighteenth consecutive victory in the ATP 500 series in the quarter-finals of the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament. It was a hard-fought victory against the French qualifier Jeremy Chardy: 7-6 (2), 6-7 (2), 6-4.

The Dutch tennisfans met Andrey Rublev for the first time in the summer of 2016. He opened the Davis Cup meeting in his hometown Moscow against the Dutch leader Robin Haase. Without a loss of set, Rublev got the job done. The right-handed player has very fond memories of victories in Moscow. On his 22nd birthday, he won the Kremlin Cup. "I will not forget that tournament victory all my life."

There are now seven titles on his honors list. Last year, the 23-year-old Rublev even won five tournaments. His first title in 2021 beckons, because he has reached the last four in Rotterdam Ahoy. The number eight in the world ranking - his highest rating ever - had his hands full with Chardy in the quarterfinals. "I started the first set well, but Chardy came back strong." From 3 pm Stefanos Tsitsipas is the next obstacle for Andrey Rublev. "We both had two tough matches in the quarterfinals. That is simply part of top sport. "
