About wheelchair tennis tournament
From 7 to 15 February 2026, experience world-class wheelchair tennis live at Rotterdam Ahoy. The ABN AMRO Open Wheelchair Tennis Tournament has grown into the largest indoor wheelchair tennis tournament in Europe. During this unique week, international top players compete for the title, with matches that guarantee spectacle, strength and determination. In February, the world’s best wheelchair tennis players will once again battle in Rotterdam for the coveted singles and doubles titles.
History of the Wheelchair Tennis Tournament
The wheelchair tennis tournament was added to the ABN AMRO Open in 2009 to showcase top-level tennis in all its forms. Since then, the tournament has become a fixture on the international wheelchair tennis calendar, attracting players from the top of the ITF Wheelchair Tennis Tour every year.
With the addition of a women’s event in 2025, the tournament has become even more inclusive. Under the leadership of tournament director Esther Vergeer - multiple Paralympic champion - the event has grown into the leading stage for wheelchair tennis in Europe. Last year, Dutch pride Diede de Groot also competed.
Players & Field of Participants
Each year, the world’s best wheelchair tennis players take part, including leading names from the ITF rankings. The field of participants always guarantees spectacular wheelchair tennis. The previous edition featured not only many players from the global top 10, but also several young talents eager to challenge the finalists of recent years. Keep an eye on our website and social media for updates on players and draws.
Want to watch the matches live? All matches will be broadcast via a livestream on YouTube. Just before the tournament, you will find the player field here.
An Initiative by ABN AMRO
As title sponsor, ABN AMRO finds it important that all players are treated equally - both tennis players and wheelchair tennis players. The same ambition deserves the same stage. That is why the bank took the lead in 2009 by launching the wheelchair tennis tournament (formerly the ABN AMRO World Wheelchair Tennis Tournament). In 2023, a women’s wheelchair tennis event was also added. With success: it is no coincidence that the tournament in Rotterdam is often referred to by players as 'the fifth Grand Slam’. For 15 editions, it has been an integral part of the main tennis tournament. This integration is unique in the world.
Tournament Director Esther Vergeer
The organization is led by tournament director Esther Vergeer. Together with Rotterdam Ahoy and ABN AMRO, the seven-time Paralympic champion works to bring wheelchair tennis to a wider audience. Vergeer: "I want to continue to call for attention to Paralympic sport. We have so many incredible achievements to deliver and so many great stories to tell.”
