The 4 millionth visitor at ABN AMRO Open

Friday took an unexpected and wonderful turn for Jilke and Willeke van Doorn. Mother and daughter were greeted by tournament director Richard Krajicek as the four millionth visitor to the ABN AMRO Open.

Jilke and Willeke van Doorn are regulars at the tournament and they actually don't even remember for how long they have been coming to Rotterdam Ahoy each year. Jilke, the mother, set her alarm in the morning and left Terneuzen early to catch the half past eight train at Goes station. Willeke who was coming from Amersfoort, had less travel time. They met at Rotterdam Central Station, and then took a short metro ride to Zuidplein together.

Once in Ahoy it all became a day to remember. 'We were blown away when we saw Richard Krajicek standing at the escalator. We were the happiest as the four millionth visitors, but we were not dressed for it at all. You think you will be sitting somewhere on the second ring and then you get tickets for a VIP-box just behind Centre Court. Both of us are Dimitrov fans, so it was great that he won his match. This was such an amazing experience and a truly an unforgettable day.’
