The Grand Slams visit ABN AMRO Open

The ABN AMRO Open has been highly regarded for a long time in the international tennis world. This year, many tournament directors from all over the world are guests in Rotterdam Ahoy. What is particularly special, is that all the directors of the four Grand Slams also flew together to the Netherlands. 'They are all impressed by the Wheelchair Arena,’ says Jolanda Jansen, director of Rotterdam Ahoy. 

'The high level of integration of wheelchair tennis into the entire tournament really appeals to everyone. We gave the tournament directors a tour. Everyone is impressed by the centre court and VIP Village. In addition, we have received many compliments that everything at this tournament is under one roof, such as the training facilities, the Players' Lounge, and all activities for visitors at the Sports Plaza.’

Tournament director Esther Vergeer continues discussions today with the main actors from the tennis world,  to see how wheelchair tennis can also find a place in several other tournaments. 'It goes without saying that Grand Slams support us, but we hope that other major international ATP tournaments will also follow our example. We are of course happy to help them with that.
