A Top Doubles Match-Up for the Final Day

09 February 2025

The final day of the 52nd edition of the ABN AMRO Open will kick off with the doubles final at 13:00. The Italian duo Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori will face the surprisingly strong pair Sander Gillé and Jan Zielinski. Both teams had to work hard in the semifinals to book their ticket to the final, as in both matches, all sets ended in a tiebreak.

The third-seeded Italians Bolelli and Vavassori, who lost in the final at the Australian Open last month, received a lot of support from their compatriots in the stands of Rotterdam Ahoy on late Saturday evening. They defeated the British duo Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool 7-6 (1), 7-6 (3).

Sander Gillé's premonition about his semifinal came true. The 34-year-old Belgian and his Polish doubles partner Jan Zielinski eliminated the top-seeded pair Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic in two tight sets: 7-6 (7), 7-6 (6). In 2025, the big goal for Gillé and Zielinski, who have been playing together since the turn of the year, is to finish the season among the best eight doubles players in the world, so that they can qualify for the Nitto ATP Finals.
