Alec Deckers to Make Qualifying Debut at ABN AMRO Open

01 February 2026

Alongside Mees Röttgering and Thijs Boogaard, Alec Deckers will also compete in the qualifying tournament of the 53rd ABN AMRO Open. The 25-year-old Deckers was awarded the final wildcard by national coach Paul Haarhuis. The ABN AMRO Open qualifying tournament will be played on 7 and 8 February at Rotterdam Ahoy.

Tournament Director Richard Krajicek: "For several years now, we have allocated the third wildcard for the qualifying tournament to the KNLTB. National coach Paul Haarhuis has the best overview of which of the many talents we have in the Netherlands are performing well. As a tournament, we believe it’s important to give young players who are making good progress the chance to get a taste of the top level. That the KNLTB has chosen Alec this year is, for me as a father, of course very special.”

National Coach Paul Haarhuis: "In consultation with Jan Bunt, High Performance Manager at the KNLTB, I decided to award the qualifying wildcard to Alec Deckers this year. After several periods of injury setbacks, he has been working very hard recently to take the next steps. This is an opportunity for him to measure himself against the world’s best, as many top-100 players also compete in the qualifying tournament.”

Golden Opportunity
Alec Deckers is currently ranked 636th on the ATP Rankings. Deckers on the wildcard: "It’s obviously a great opportunity to be able to compete at the ABN AMRO Open. I’ve been around the tournament almost my entire life and have previously worked a few times as a hitting partner for top players. To now make my debut is very special.”
