Alexander Zverev Withdraws from Rotterdam

04 February 2026

Alexander Zverev is unable to participate in the 53rd ABN AMRO Open. The 28-year-old German withdrew today. Due to recurring ankle problems, his physio advised him to recover thoroughly before playing matches again.

Alexander Zverev: "I find it incredibly unfortunate that I have to make this decision. At the ABN AMRO Open, I was already given a chance as a young player, and that's why I always enjoy returning. However, given my history with my ankle, I have to prioritize my recovery and can't take any risks. I wish everyone in Rotterdam a wonderful week.”

Tournament director Richard Krajicek: "Given his history, we would naturally have liked to see Alexander back on court, but we also understand his decision here. Everyone still remembers the images and the impact of his previous ankle injury.”

Alex de Minaur tops the rankings, Botic van de Zandschulp receives wildcard

Alex de Minaur is the new top seed at the ABN AMRO Open. The 26-year-old, ranked number six in the world, has reached the final in Rotterdam for the past two years. He will face competition from players including Felix Auger-Aliassime (8), Alexander Bublik (10), Daniil Medvedev (11), and Jack Draper (13).

Jesper de Jong was the first reserve on the entry list, but he will now be directly entered based on his ranking. The wildcard previously awarded to De Jong has now been given to Botic van de Zandschulp.
