Wildcards for Wawrinka and De Jong

14 January 2026

The first two wildcards for the 53rd ABN AMRO Open have been awarded to Stan Wawrinka and Jesper de Jong. The announcement was made by Richard Krajicek during the tournament presentation.

Stan Wawrinka

Richard Krajicek said: "Stan has recently announced that he is about to begin the final year of his career. Naturally, we would very much like to see him in action in Rotterdam one last time. Over the years, we have built a strong connection with him. It’s great that he will be there.”

In his seven previous appearances at the tournament, he managed to win the title once. In 2015, he defeated Tomas Berdych in the final. He reached the final again in 2019, but on that occasion had to concede the title to Gaël Monfils.

Jesper de Jong

"Jesper receives the wildcard as the second highest-ranked Dutch player. Tallon Griekspoor is already in the tournament based on his ranking, so he does not need one. This also gives Jesper the opportunity to take part in the Davis Cup qualifying round, which will be played in India in the weekend prior to the ABN AMRO Open. As a result, he is guaranteed a place in the main draw and does not have to play the qualifying rounds,” Krajicek explained.

Third wildcard

The third wildcard will be awarded shortly before the tournament.
