Tournament Champion Alex de Minaur returns to ABN AMRO Open

29 May 2026

Alex de Minaur, champion of the 2026 ABN AMRO Open, will return to Rotterdam Ahoy in February to defend his title. The Australian world No. 7 is the first player confirmed for the 2027 edition of the tournament.

Tournament Director Richard Krajicek said: "Traditionally, the tournament champion is the first player you approach to return. Especially when he has reached the final three years in a row, as Alex de Minaur has done. With back-to-back runner-up finishes followed by the title, he has shown that he plays some of his best tennis in Rotterdam. We are delighted to welcome him back.”

First Indoor Title
The 27-year-old Australian has now won eleven ATP Tour titles, yet his ABN AMRO Open triumph marked his first indoor title. De Minaur has enjoyed his greatest successes on faster surfaces. All eleven ATP titles he has won have come on either hard courts or grass courts. Among those victories was the Libéma Open in 2024.

Krajicek added: "It was no surprise that he won his first indoor title with us. His runner-up finishes in 2024 and 2025 had already proven that he feels at home in Rotterdam Ahoy. And there is certainly no shame in losing those finals to Jannik Sinner two years ago and Carlos Alcaraz last year.”

Previous Appearances in Rotterdam
De Minaur made his ABN AMRO Open debut in 2021, reaching the second round. In 2022, he lost in the quarter-finals to Stefanos Tsitsipas. A year later, Grigor Dimitrov proved too strong in the quarter-finals. He achieved his best results in 2024 and 2025. In 2024, victories over Sebastian Korda, David Goffin, Andrey Rublev and Grigor Dimitrov earned him a place in the final, where he was defeated by Jannik Sinner, 7-5, 6-4. In 2025, wins against David Goffin, Jakub Mensik, Daniel Altmaier and Mattia Bellucci once again took him to the final, where he lost 4-6, 6-3, 2-6 to Carlos Alcaraz. Earlier this year, De Minaur finally captured the coveted title with victories over Arthur Fils, Stan Wawrinka, Botic van de Zandschulp, Ugo Humbert and Félix Auger-Aliassime.
